Bunnies

Did you know?

Rabbits belong to the family Leporidae, which includes over 30 species. The common pet rabbit, known as the European rabbit, is just one of these.

  • They have powerful hind legs that allow them to jump up to three times their body length in a single leap, making them incredibly agile.

  • A rabbit's teeth never stop growing throughout its life. They need to chew on various materials to keep their teeth from becoming overgrown.

  • Rabbits are herbivores, primarily consuming grass, hay, and vegetables. Their diet is essential for their digestive health as they rely on fiber to maintain a healthy gut.

  • They have a unique social structure and live in colonies. In the wild, rabbits create complex burrow systems known as warrens.

  • A rabbit's eyesight is nearly panoramic. With their large, bulging eyes, they can see behind them without turning their heads, helping them detect predators.

  • Domestic rabbits can make excellent pets, often forming strong bonds with their owners. They can be litter trained and enjoy interactive play.

  • Rabbits communicate using a variety of sounds, including soft honks, purrs, and even growls, in addition to body language.

    Mr. Pickles

Mr. Pickles is truly one of the most delightful little guys I've ever encountered. His vibrant personality lights up any space he enters. In the summer of 2024, Mr. Pickles, affectionately known as PJ, made his way to Storybook Farm from the coast of North Carolina. With a heart full of hope and joy, he looks forward to visiting elementary classrooms for story time, eager to share his wisdom and teach children valuable moral lessons. His favorite book, PJ Funny Bunny, beautifully conveys messages about sharing, embracing one’s true self, and the importance of kindness—lessons that can make a real difference in young lives. Help PJ with his mission of Spreading Hope, Joy and Love to others.

    Honey Bunny

Little Miss Honey Bunny, often referred to as Peanut, is truly the sweetest bunny at Storybook Farm. As a small Holland Lop born on May 16, 2024, she brings such joy to everyone around her. Her father, Benjamin, and her mother, Blueberry, share their home with her at the farm. Honey Bunny’s arrival was a delightful surprise that warmed my heart; I’ll never forget returning from errands to find her nestled in the corner of the outdoor playground. Her love for cuddling is irresistible, and she has a special way of bringing comfort and healing. There’s something truly soothing about holding her in your lap or snuggling her under your chin —it's as if she understands and shares in your feelings, bringing peace to your soul.
